As Government of India will commemorates 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi from 2nd October 2019 to 2nd October 2020. To commemorate 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, We have constituted the Gandhi-Mandela Awards. The first edition of the awards ceremony along with participations from more than 50 countries will be held in New Delhi . The Award is aimed at honoring those who have been inspired by and furthered the ideas and ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela. This will go a long way promoting individual freedom, civil liberties, and human rights across the globe. Interactive Forum on Indian Economy (IFIE), which is a Government of India recognized non-profitable company (80G, 12A compliant), dedicated for the development & welfare of underprivileged women and children belonging to rural India, with special thrust on 115 Aspirational Districts (undeveloped districts). The IFIE also runs its monthly news based magazine, Power Corridors in Hindi and English. It also owns India’s biggest digital news portal carrying rural India’s voice – Panchayati Times, has also been praised by the Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu. In his speech at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on Dec 26, 2018, He said, “Both Power Corridors and Panchayati Times are performing not only the media dharma but also carrying out their social responsibility from the dais of media.” The Gandhi-Mandela Awards, commemorating the legacy of the two great men, will be given in the following categories: Peace, Social Welfare, Culture, Education, Health Care, Sports and Innovation, and the event will be attended by the Ambassadors and High Commissioners of more than 100 countries. With Esteemed representatives from the Business fraternity and the Chamber partners. The Gandhi Mandela Award, one of the most prestigious international awards constituted in India, honors exemplary work and achievements of the Heads of State and Government and other distinguished persons around the world. The Gandhi Mandela Foundation, which organizes this award, believes that the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela are relevant today as they were in their lifetime. Gandhiji was nominated thrice for the Nobel Prize thrice but never given one. It will be an apt tribute to him to set up an award in his name on his 150th birth anniversary and in the name of Mandela, who embraced the ideals of non-violence, pluralism, and forbearance. These awards will be given to personalities who have made significant contribution in the fields of peace, social welfare, culture, education, healthcare, sports, and innovation. The candidates will be selected by a jury of eminent personalities, including former Chief Justices of India, Nepal, and Bangladesh Supreme Courts and former Chairmen of the National Human Rights Commission. The comprises Chief Justices of India, Mr. Dipak Misra and Mr. K.G. Balakrishnan, former Chief Justice of Nepal Kedar Nath Upadhyay, former Chief Justice of Bangladesh M.D. Tafazzul Islam, and Baba Ramdev.
